14th of june/Benefit for Tara and early earth oven building

This will be our next meeeting/14th of june.We are going to attempt to build an earth oven.If no body gets too side tracked by the Gig we,re having that evening for Tara, sacred site of Eire.If any one has built one before please come a long and share your knowhow get here the night before and come and suport our local drop in centre we,re having an other benefit there!People can camp if you know of any musicians bring them too!Make a Weekend of it,In the lovely Sliabh an Iarainn Mths.Hope to see you there.Sinead

Last Meeting

We had a great time at last meeting. We made 4 very stone agey looking raised beds, planted some plants in trees and even managed to clear out part of the cottage space. This will be a meeting/sleeping area in the future. Below are some images from the day.

Next Meeting

The next gathering related to Solid Ground will be at Mohill St Patricks day Parade in Co. Leitrim. Bring a bike and take part in a critical mass cycle and be part of the parade as well. Thanks for coming last time to the centre, we dug drills for potatoes, planted trees and had fun!

Also in Ballinamore at McGirls pub the Pucheen fair will be on 22nd March next. All welcome. Talk on Tara motorway protest, films, market, Bonfire, DJ's etc, all day from about noon.

Next Meeting

Saturday 16th Feb from 11am at Solid Ground Permaculture Centre, address in 1st post.

Our first meeting went so well, so thank you all for coming. We still want new people to come and share their skills and knowledge as well. The more people we can involve the better.

This time, if you can, bring a loy, some seed potatoes(as local as possible) and a pair of wellies!

Directions from Drumshanbo: Pass church and graveyard, 3 miles, you will see Mountain Tavern on right(but do not goi dow tha road, stay straight), on pass JP Lees Post Office on right, then take next left signposted for Ballinagleara. Go 3 miles approx then left at junction then Solid Ground Centre to right.
